Hurt in an accident that was not your fault?
Whiplash happens when the head is thrown suddenly back and forth, straining the muscles, joints, and ligaments of the neck. It is most common after a car accident, but also happens in sport and falls. Symptoms often do not appear straight away.
Common symptoms we treat after a road traffic accident:
- Neck pain and stiffness, often worse the next day
- Headaches starting at the base of the skull
- Reduced movement turning or tilting the head
- Pain into the shoulders, upper back, or arms
- Dizziness, pins and needles, or difficulty concentrating
- Disturbed sleep and difficulty driving
The evidence is clear: staying gently active and starting rehab early gives the best recovery. Resting in a collar and waiting is outdated advice.

Questions? We have got answers
How soon after an accident should I start physio?
The sooner the better. Current evidence shows that early, gentle movement and rehab give the best recovery and reduce the chance of whiplash becoming a long-term problem. You do not need to wait for the pain to peak.
How long does whiplash take to recover?
Many cases settle within a few weeks to a few months with the right treatment. Recovery is quicker when rehab starts early. Longer-standing whiplash can still improve significantly with a structured plan.
Can you provide reports for an insurance or injury claim?
Yes. We can provide treatment notes and liaise with solicitors or insurers where your treatment is part of a road traffic accident claim. Just let us know at your first appointment.
Should I wear a neck collar?
Generally no. Prolonged collar use and rest are outdated for whiplash and can slow recovery. Guided movement and rehab are far more effective, which is exactly what we provide.
Do I need a referral?
No referral needed. You can book directly. We also accept Simplyhealth and Medicash cash plans.
What are your prices?
A new patient whiplash assessment is £75 for 45 minutes, including a full assessment, hands-on treatment, and a clear plan.
