Carrying a rugby injury?
Rugby puts the body through repeated high-speed collisions, sprints, and changes of direction. Injuries range from acute contact knocks to the overload strains that build across a season, and rushing back too soon is how a minor injury becomes a recurring one.
Common issues we see in rugby athletes:
- Hamstring and calf strains from sprinting and acceleration
- Shoulder injuries from tackling and contact
- Knee ligament injuries from twisting, tackling, and studs in the ground
- Ankle sprains from rucks, tackles, and uneven ground
- AC joint and stinger injuries from the shoulder and neck in contact
- Recurring strains that flare every time you return to full training
What we treat
Rugby injuries we treat
We understand the specific demands of the sport and treat the injuries that come with it, including:
Hamstring strains
One of the most common rugby injuries, from sprinting and acceleration.
Shoulder and AC joint injuries
From tackling and contact, including stingers and AC joint sprains.
Knee ligament injuries
MCL, ACL, and meniscus injuries from twisting and contact.
Ankle sprains
From rucks, tackles, and uneven pitches.
Calf and groin strains
From sprinting, kicking, and changes of direction.
Neck and back pain
From scrummaging, contact, and repeated loading.
Back on the pitch
Return to play, properly tested
Walking without pain is not the same as being ready for contact. We use return-to-play testing to make sure your strength, power, and control are genuinely back before you take a tackle.
Strength and power
We rebuild the strength and explosive power rugby demands, not just basic pain-free movement.
Contact readiness
We test that the injured area can handle the loads of tackling, sprinting, and changing direction.
Reduce re-injury
Proper testing and progressive loading cut the risk of the injury returning mid-season.

Questions? We have got answers
How soon can I get back to playing?
It depends on the injury. We focus on getting you back as soon as you are genuinely ready, using return-to-play testing rather than just waiting for pain to ease, which is what reduces the chance of re-injury.
Why do my injuries keep coming back?
Returning to contact before strength, power, and control are fully restored is the main reason rugby injuries recur. We test these properly before clearing you, rather than going on pain alone.
Do you treat contact injuries?
We treat the soft tissue, joint, and overuse injuries that rugby causes, and rehab you back to contact. For acute fractures, suspected concussion, or major trauma, we will make sure you get the right urgent care first.
Do I need a referral?
No referral needed. You can book directly. We also accept Simplyhealth and Medicash cash plans.
What are your prices?
A new patient assessment is £75 for 45 minutes, including a full assessment, hands-on treatment, and a clear plan.
