CrossFit Physio physiotherapy at a Liverpool clinic

Injured but do not want to stop?

CrossFit combines heavy lifting, gymnastics, and metabolic conditioning, often under fatigue. That mix is brilliant for fitness but demanding on the body, and the last thing you want is a physio whose only advice is to rest for six weeks.

Common issues we see in crossfit athletes:

  • Shoulder pain from overhead pressing, snatches, and high-volume gymnastics
  • Lower back pain from deadlifts, cleans, and loaded carries
  • Knee pain from high-volume squatting and box jumps
  • Wrist pain from front rack, overhead, and handstand work
  • Elbow and tendon pain from pull-ups, muscle-ups, and pressing volume
  • Niggles that flare every time a workout programmes the same movement

What we treat

CrossFit injuries we treat

We understand the specific demands of the sport and treat the injuries that come with it, including:

Shoulder pain and impingement

From overhead pressing, snatches, and gymnastics volume.

Lower back pain

From deadlifts, cleans, and heavy loaded movements.

Knee pain

Patellar tendinopathy and anterior knee pain from squatting and jumping.

Wrist and elbow pain

From front rack, overhead positions, and high pulling volume.

Tendinopathies

Achilles, patellar, and elbow tendon pain from repeated loading.

Recurrent tweaks

Niggles that keep returning when a movement comes back in programming.

Train through it

Rehab without stopping training

You should not have to choose between your injury and your training. We modify your programming, not cancel it, finding what you can load safely while we fix the problem at the source.

Scale, don't stop

We find the movements and loads you can train safely so you keep your fitness while you rehab.

Fix the weak link

We identify the strength, mobility, or control gap driving the injury and close it.

Return to the whiteboard

A clear path back to full intensity, Rx loads, and the movements that caught you out.

Our approach

How we treat CrossFit injuries

Sport-specific assessment
We assess the injured area and how you move under load, looking at your squat, pull, press, and overhead positions to find what is really driving the problem.
Hands-on plus loading
Manual therapy to settle symptoms, combined with a progressive loading programme that speaks the language of barbells and gymnastics, not just resistance bands.
Modify, do not stop
We find what you can train safely and scale the rest, so you keep your fitness and your routine while we fix the injury.
Closing the weak link
Most CrossFit injuries come from a strength, mobility, or control gap under fatigue. We find it and close it so the injury does not return.
Return to full intensity
A graded path back to Rx loads, high intensity, and the specific movements that caused the issue.
Who this is for
Any CrossFitter with pain or a recurring niggle that affects training, who wants to keep moving rather than sit out for weeks.

Questions? We have got answers

Will I have to stop CrossFit completely?

Almost never. The whole point of how we work is to keep you training. We scale and modify your programming so you maintain fitness and routine while we treat the injury at the source.

Why does the same injury keep coming back?

Recurring injuries usually point to a strength, mobility, or movement-control gap that shows up under fatigue. Treating the flare without closing that gap is why it returns. We focus on both.

Do you understand CrossFit movements?

Yes. We assess and rehab around the actual movements, squats, cleans, snatches, pull-ups, muscle-ups, rather than giving generic exercises, and we build you back to full intensity.

Do I need a referral?

No referral needed. You can book directly. We also accept Simplyhealth and Medicash cash plans.

What are your prices?

A new patient assessment is £75 for 45 minutes, including a full assessment, hands-on treatment, and a clear plan.
